The Many Titles of Jesus

Jesus was given many titles in the NT. Son of God, Son of Man, Messiah, and Christ.

* Messiah & Christ
Let's start off with Messiah and Christ.
Messiah in Hebrew literally means "the anointed one" or "anointed king"
Christ coming from Greek, literally means "anointed" and it is the translated word of Messiah.(Sorry it isn't Jesus' last name)

 The Jewish Messiah is a king anointed by God from the Davidic line who will rule the united tribes of Israel. Messiah
This title is a very human title. The word is used many times in the Hebrew Bible.
"a Jewish king,[1 Kings 1:39] Jewish priests,[Lev. 4:3] and prophets,[Isa. 61:1] the Jewish Temple and its utensils,[Ex. 40:9-11] unleavened bread,[Num. 6:15] and a non-Jewish king (Cyrus king of Persia).[Isa. 45:1]"
"A common modern rabbinic interpretation is that there is a potential messiah in every generation."

Christ as stated above is just the Greek translation of Messiah. Of course to many Christians it means much more. "originally it was a title (the Messiah) and not a name; however its use in "Christ Jesus" is a title."

Other People that were called Messiah(anointed king)
Cyrus the Great
David
Simon of Peraea

* Son of Man
The Son of Man is a title given to Jesus many times, in the NT. the question is, is it a divine title only specific to Jesus?
Actually it is given to Ezekiel in the beginning of almost every chapter in Ezekiel. Ezekiel 2:1
It is a Hebrew phrase "ben adam" meaning "human being" or "mortal one" Son of man

* Son of God
 Son of God has been a title given to Jesus for centuries. You would think that this title is reserved for Jesus alone since Jesus being the son of God is part of almost every major Christian doctrine.
Genesis 6:4 - the sons of God slept with the daughters of humans, and had children.(Yes this is what it says)
1 Chronicles 17:13 & 1 Chronicles 28:6- God proclaims Solomon as his son through the prophet Nathan.
Deuteronomy 14:1Hosea 1:10John 1:12 - Psalm 82:6John 10:34-We are all children of God.
Exodus 4:22  - Israel is God's FIRST born Son.
Jeremiah 31:9 - Apparently Ephraim is too.
Luke 3:38 - Adam is also the son of God.
Romans 8:14, Galatians 3:26- even Paul says we are children of God.

As you can see the titles given to Jesus weren't exactly specific to him but in todays doctrines Christ, Messiah, Son of Man, and Son of God, all have become an assortment of divine titles attributed to Jesus.

Summary of the Facts:
* Titles given to Jesus are not specific to Jesus.
* The titles that are given to Jesus have no divine history or implication that would set him apart from mortal humans.
